Hitting the Slopes!

Our 2020/2021 ski season is over. Insert frowny face, because I love to ski! It wasn’t always that way though, because I didn’t grow up skiing. I went a couple of times in college–in fact the first time I went I showed up in jeans and light gloves. Yeah, that didn’t go over well. My husband grew up skiing and really loves it, so he taught our older two boys when they were younger. I always had little kids at home to take care of, so I didn’t mind them going without me. Then the twins got to skiing age…which presents a problem for one person to teach them how to ski. Our older two weren’t big or good enough to take over, which meant that I had to help one, while my husband helped the other. So basically, I learned how to ski the same time my twins did. When they were 5, we bit the bullet and bought season passes to a nearby resort, and that was when I really learned how to ski. At 36.

Fast forward to this last ski season, the 5th year that we had been skiing on a regular basis, and we are all pretty good skiers now! Sure, you won’t see me doing any big jumps or flips, but I can do a little jump and I can even ski black diamonds! Every year I get more and more excited to hit the slopes. This year was probably one of the best! We went almost every week, sometimes twice a week if we could fit it in, and enjoyed it so much! It’s really been a great winter activity for our family, and I know my boys love it!

Last year I made a ski video, showing clips of the whole season, so I figured I’d better make one for this year too! Without further ado, here’s a look at us hitting the slopes!

Here’s last year’s video too, just in case you wanna see it! πŸ˜‰

Hanging Out With the Hamson’s: February 2021

I decided I need to share these little family films each month on here, just for kicks if nothing else! (And yes, I’m really behind in sharing…) I’ve mentioned before that these films are just for my family, and I don’t put a lot of time and effort into them. They’re more for posterity’s sake.

When I finished this one, my boys went through my Vimeo channel and watched a lot of our older videos, and it was so fun to see how they’ve grown and changed over the 3 years I’ve been making films! One never gets time back again, so they are keepsakes for our family!

Hanging Out With the Hamson’s: January 2021

It’s amazing how quickly time flies! January 2021 is long over and I finally finished our family film from the month. I began our series, “Hanging Out With the Hamson’s” in January of 2018, when I took my first film class. I didn’t do it in 2019, but decided that I’d do it again in 2020…and decided to keep it up this year! My boys are getting near leaving the nest, and I want to document the dwindling days we have left together!

This series is in no way professional, and I will admit that I don’t put a lot of thought into filming or editing it. It’s just documenting our family’s activities and lives! Just for fun! So here’s a look at what we did in January, 2021. Just for fun, I’m going to link up our January 2018 film as well, so you can see how much my boys have grown, and if you want, how much I’ve grown as a filmmaker! πŸ˜‰

And here’s a pretty picture I took in January…just for fun! πŸ˜‰
