Magic Eggs!

I really love making stop motion videos! I wrote a whole post on what exactly a stop motion is already, so I’ll spare you the details…but they’re super fun to watch and make!

This one was made as part of a group project. Each month we have a theme and post our videos the same time on Instagram. It’s so fun to see the wide variety of ideas and execution! Since our post day was the end of March, we decided that March’s theme would be eggs, to get us ready for Easter.

Here’s my take on eggs! (And a big thank you to my 14 year old as my hand model!)

Happy Easter!

Lava (A Stop Motion)

I love the Disney short film “Lava”! Such a cute little story! Have you seen it? If not, go search it up!

Well, last year, I started learning how to play the ukulele, and the song from Lava is one that I learned how to play. I was practicing it the other day, when I had a sudden stroke of inspiration on what to do for my latest stop motion. I had a pile of Valentine’s Day candy in my office that I’d bought to make another stop motion. Only the other one didn’t quite work out how I’d wanted it to. So I scrapped on it, and basically ate candy for the next 3 days while I was trying to figure out something different. 😉

Luckily between me and my boys, there was enough candy to make a new stop motion when the inspiration finally struck! I decided to make a stop motion based on “Lava”! (You may have to click on the link as I can’t get it to embed for some reason…sorry about that!)

Stop Motion Fun

I have found a love for making stop motion videos. There’s just something about them that makes my heart beat faster. I don’t know if it’s the conception (trying to come up with a fun idea), getting and putting all the pieces together that I need, executing it, or editing it to music that makes me love them.

This was my very first stop motion I attempted! It took 5 hours to make…

Stop motions are quite deceiving. They are usually very short videos, but take hours to do. If you don’t know what a stop motion is, it’s basically a bunch of pictures consecutively placed together to make a moving video. Kind of like those little drawings that people do on the corners of book pages to make a stick figure run.

This one I made with cut out paper

They look super easy to make, but I’ll tell you, moving a subject by mere inches at a time is pretty tedious. This 8 second stop motion took more than hour just to shoot! Then I had to edit the pictures, import them into my video program, add music and sounds…all of which took another couple of hours!

Legos + world kindness day

Now if it sounds like I’m complaining, I’m not really! I actually really LOVE the whole process of making stop motions. It makes me think, slow down and be exact. I’ve always been a lover of crafting, so it’s exactly what I call fun!

Sometimes making funny stuff is good for the soul!

Though I’m just at the beginning of my stop motion madness, I’m excited when I get the opportunity to help others call attention to their products and brands with a unique stop motion just for them!
