Stop Motion FAQ's

Your questions answered! What do you want to know about working on a stop motion video with me?

How Does Pricing Work?

I do not have a set pricing sheet for stop motions. Because each stop motion is unique in the time it takes to plan, prep, shoot and edit, and deliver, as well as the duration of the stop motion itself, it’s hard to have just one price. Instead I have 3 options for you to choose from:

OPTION A

You know exactly what you’d like or need! You have a concept in mind, you know where you want to share it and what kind of license you’d like.

I will put your desires into my pricing system and send you a quote.

OPTION B

You’re not exactly sure what you want, but have a general idea of a product you’d like to feature. You have a budget in mind.

I will brainstorm 2-3 ideas that will fit within your budget.

OPTION C

You don’t have any ideas of what you’d like to do, you just know you’d like to add some stop motion videos to your social media feed or website. You may or may not have a budget in mind.

I will show you a few examples of something we can do with your product, and tell you the approximate cost it will be.

Just a Quick Note:

Some things that can increase the final price of your stop motions are:
-Extended licensing
-Multiple ratios of the same video(1×1, 16×9, 4×6, etc.)
-Longer stop motions
-A complicated set up with more props
-Something where rigging is required and a lot of photoshopping will be needed

Some things that can decrease the price of you final stop motion are:
-No sound design (This is a great choice if you plan to just use a trending audio on IG.)
-A retainer where we contract 2-3 stop motion videos each month for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, or a quarterly plan
-Shorter stop motions that are only a few seconds long
-Simple stop motions that don’t have a lot of props or complicated movements

what is the process for making a stop motion with you?

Pre-planning:

You decide which option you’d like, or if you’d like to do a monthly plan.

I give you a cost estimate and send you a contract (25% of cost estimate is due at signing).

I create a concept deck or story board for you to approve.

Shooting:

You send me the product(s) and I will get the rest of the supplies needed.

I will send you an image of the main image for approval, and then shoot the stop motion once it’s approved.

Editing:

I will edit the stop motion, then upload to a private Vimeo link where you can approve the video portion.

You let me know if it’s what you wanted or if changes need to be made.

I add sound design and music to your video.

Delivery:

Once you’ve approved the video and the sound designing, I will upload it to a new private Vimeo link for you to give final approval.

Once final approval is met, final payment will be due and your video will be put into a Dropbox folder or on Vimeo, whichever you prefer so you can download it and share it wherever you’d like.

How Long Does Production Take?

From first contact to getting the final product to download can take anywhere from 2 weeks to one month. There are a lot of things that factor into this: my schedule, how quickly I get the products, how may revisions and payment. I strive to get the final video(s) to you as quickly as possible. Rush orders can be done for a nominal fee.

How does licensing work?

Included in any stop motion is a two year license for sharing your video on your current online accounts. This includes your current website, social media accounts and newsletters for two years. If you’d like to share your stop motions on other places, like an ad on local TV, the movie theater, or stills on a billboard, you will need extended licensing.

What are retainer plans and how do they work?

Retainer plans are an easy way for you to get multiple stop motion videos in specific periods of time. This saves you money and time, and assures you have fresh content when needed! You can choose from a monthly plan or a quarterly plan. Retainer clients will also get priority scheduling and editing pushed to the top of queue!

Monthly Plans:

Choose between a 2 or 3 video per month plan. These can both be contracted for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months at a time. This is a great choice if you are wanting updated content 2 to 3 times a month for your online sites or newsletters.

Quarterly Plans:

Quarterly plans are a 1 year contract. Every quarter (3 months), you will get 3 videos all at once that you can share when you’re ready (12 videos total). This is a great choice if you have a seasonal or new products that come out at various times of the year!

Can I Have Product Photos in addition to my stop motion?

Yes! I also do product photography, and you can add various images of your photos to your stop motion. The more photos you want, the better deal you get in the end!
